Patrick Maswanganyi has completed a transfer to Alkhaldiya Sports Club in the Bahrain Premier League after spending three seasons with Orlando Pirates.
The Buccaneers confirmed this in a statement released on Monday.
“Orlando Pirates Football Club can confirm that an agreement has been reached with Bahrain Premier League side Alkhaldiya Sports Club for the transfer of Patrick Maswanganyi,” said Pirates.
Tito, as he was affectionately known, became a fan favourite due to his flair and playmaking abilities, which contributed to the club’s success under then-coach Jose Riveiro and current tactician Abdeslam Ouaddou.
The 28-year-old has won six trophies with the Ghosts and was named the 2023/2024 Betway Premiership Player’s Player of the Season and Midfielder of the Season. He featured in 120 matches, scored 28 goals and provided 21 assists across all competitions.
“Tito” leaves having made a lasting impression both on and off the field. From his first appearance in the famous black and white jersey, he gave the Ghost countless moments to celebrate and represented this club with pride. He departs as a league champion, a firm favourite among the supporters and a player who understood the responsibility of representing Orlando Pirates Football Club,” Pirates continued.
“The Club thanks Tito for his dedicated service and wishes him every success in Bahrain and in the next chapter of his career,” the club concluded.
Alkhaldiya Sports Club is a title-challenging team that missed out on the league trophy by one point, finishing second behind winners Muharraq. They are the defending Bahraini Super Cup champions.
The league is set to kickstart on 27 August with Tito’s side taking on Al Najma. We look to see if the Bafana star will feature in the match.
