The final weekend of September is getting off to a flying start, with Lucky Fish Friday Night Racing at Hollywoodbets Greyville Racecourse serving up an evening of racing, entertainment and unmistakable Mzansi vibes.
This week’s Braai, Gallops & Beats edition takes place on Friday, 25 September, as part of the Heritage Day celebrations. Expect the familiar excitement of horse racing, plenty of Mzansi flavours, live music, drink specials and activities for the whole family.
Best of all, entry is free, and gates open at 15:00.
So, gather your friends and family, come hungry and get ready for a relaxed evening of food, music and racing.
Food is a big part of the evening, and you’ll have plenty of options to choose from.
If you’re after a proper sit-down meal, Durban View Restaurant will be serving a South African-inspired buffet at R325 per person.
The menu includes:
Feeling like something different? Head to the Astro Turf, where a tasty range of pita options is waiting:
And there’s plenty to look forward to when it’s time for dessert, including malva pudding, milk tartlets, mini koeksisters, soji and chocolate brownies with vanilla ice cream.

One of the highlights will be the Bluff Meat live braai station, where you can watch your food being prepared on the spot while taking in the atmosphere.
Whether you’re in the mood for a proper braai, something sweet or a quick bite between races, there should be plenty to keep you satisfied.
It wouldn’t be Friday Night Racing without some music, and 2Unique will be bringing the live entertainment to the venue.
The music will add to the atmosphere as the racing action unfolds, while interactive entertainment, games, family activities and social-media-friendly moments will give you even more to enjoy away from the track.
And yes, you can bring the little ones too.
The free, supervised KidZone gives younger visitors a chance to have some fun while the adults enjoy the racing, food and entertainment.
You can also make the most of a selection of drink specials at Lightning Shot and Trackside Vibe.
While stocks last, you can look out for:
